RUBY'S TOP TIPS: HOW TO CONCEAL DARK CIRCLES
Whether you have had too many late nights, are dehydrated or are predisposed to them, dark circles can be covered as a quick fix to give a wide awake appearance.
The key to concealing effectively? Don't be too heavy handed! Applying too much concealer can actually end up drawing more attention to the thing you are trying to hide.
Start by moisturising to create a smooth base, allowing time for this to sink in to the skin. If you start applying product straight after moisturising, it is more likely to budge or be absorbed by the moisturiser.
Depending on how dark your circles are, you may want to start with a colour corrector before applying concealer. For dark circles, I'd suggest an apricot or peachy shade to neutralise the colour. Apply sparingly to the areas you feel need it, and use your fingers or a small brush to blend in. Using a colour corrector not only neutralises, it takes the edge off the darkness brightening up the eye area.
If you're a foundation wearer, now is the time to apply your foundation base. If not, you can move straight on the concealer.
Apply a small amount of concealer to both the inner and outer corners of the eye using a small brush or the tips of your finger. You do not need large triangles of product under the eye... you should be looking at outer edge of the dark area and applying there, before tapping the product upwards. Tap the product in to the skin using your ring finger. Patting the product down rather than spreading it around the skin. Slowly build up the coverage, the thin skin under the eye can easily become cakey if overloaded with product.
To ensure this lasts all day, set with a translucent powder, such as Laura Mercier. Using a sponge, press the powder in to the areas you have used the concealer and corrector.
