RUBY REVEALS | The Beauty Of Strategic Concealing
Freckles, texture, laughter lines, a little redness, even the odd shadow under the eyes are what make a face look alive and individual. The key isn't to conceal more. It's to conceal strategically.
I always start by asking myself: what am I trying to distract from?
Darkness around the inner corner of the eye? A little pigmentation around the nose? Perhaps a blemish that's catching the light. These are the areas that benefit most from a touch of concealer. Everything else can often be left exactly as it is.
That's also where brushes make all the difference.
One of my favourite concealer tricks actually uses a brush that wasn't traditionally designed for concealer at all. I often reach for the Fine Liner Brush from Magnetic Set 02 to place concealer exactly where it's needed. The ultra-precise tip makes it easy to target pigmentation, blemishes and small areas of redness without over-applying product.
I then use the Tapered Brush from Magnetic Set 01 to gently soften the edges, creating an undetectable finish.
In fact, that's exactly why I chose not to name my brushes on the packaging. As an artist, I believe brushes should be used intuitively. Experiment, play, and discover unexpected ways to use them. Sometimes the best tool for the job isn't the most obvious one.
Remember, concealer should draw attention away from what you'd rather not notice. It shouldn't erase every bit of character from your face.
Less coverage. Better placement. Beautiful results.

QUICK PRO TIPS
For dark circles
Apply concealer only to the deepest shadow, usually the inner corner of the eye, rather than coating the entire under-eye area.
For pigmentation
Build coverage gradually rather than applying one thick layer.
For blemishes
Tap concealer directly onto the area and softly diffuse only the edges. Cover the centre, not the surrounding skin.
For a natural finish
Step back from the mirror. If you can still see a little texture or a freckle beneath the concealer, that's often a good thing.
MY FINAL THOUGHTS
I think we've become so accustomed to seeing filtered, perfected skin that we've forgotten what real skin looks like. Freckles, a little pigmentation, laughter lines and texture are not flaws to be erased. They're part of your story.
When it comes to concealer, my advice is always the same: use it with intention. Focus on the areas that genuinely benefit from a little extra brightness or camouflage, then allow the rest of your skin to shine through.
Remember, makeup should enhance, not disguise.
A strategically placed touch of concealer, applied with precision and blended beautifully, will always look fresher and more modern than heavy coverage applied everywhere.
Because ultimately, the goal isn't perfection. It's looking like yourself on your very best day.
