RUBY REVEALS | AUTUMN BEAUTY
As we move into autumn, the changes in weather offer the perfect opportunity to refresh your beauty routine. Enhance your natural beauty while embracing the season’s challenges with small changes to your skincare and makeup routine, embracing new textures and techniques.
Nourish and Hydrate Your Skin
Healthy skin is the foundation of any beauty routine. As the air becomes drier, switch to richer, more nourishing moisturisers. Don’t be afraid to try something new like an oil-based serum, which can work wonders in locking in moisture and giving you that dewy, natural glow. Hydrated skin makes makeup sit better, and it enhances your natural beauty—so prioritise this step.
Embrace Gentle Exfoliation
With the colder weather, you might experience more dry patches. Gentle exfoliation helps to keep your skin smooth and fresh, using products that work with your skin type, so look for an exfoliator that’s not too harsh, and use it sparingly (your skin shouldn't feel like it has been tackled with sandpaper or a chemical peel). Exfoliating will bring out your skin’s natural radiance, which is the best canvas for any makeup look.
Update Your Base Products
In autumn, you may consider switching to a cream-based foundation or tinted moisturiser. These formulas provide a more hydrating finish, helping to avoid any dryness or flakiness. Don't be afraid to try products with light-reflecting ingredients—they enhance your skin’s natural luminosity, letting you shine even as the days get shorter.
Play with Rich Autumnal Colors
Autumn is the perfect time to experiment with richer, warmer shades. Throughout the warmer months we have less contrast between our features, and the cooler months we have more contrast so you can go bolder without feeling outside of your comfort zone. Whilst trying new things, don't forget to note what suits you best and makes you feel most confident. Whether it’s a deep berry lipstick or a bronze eyeshadow, these colours can elevate your look and complement the seasonal shift.
The key is to always have fun and feel good in what you’re wearing—there is something for everyone, earthy tones, burnt oranges, mossy greens, rustic reds. My personal favourite for Autumn is Lip Serum Balm in Berry to nourish my lips with a hint of colour, finished with a wash of FX Gold on top to add a hint of shimmer.
Skincare and Makeup as Self-Care
Beauty is about self-care as much as it is about looking good. If you haven't over the summer, autumn is the time to indulge in face masks, nourishing treatments, and a bit of pampering. Incorporate hydrating masks and oils into your routine, taking this time to reconnect with yourself and relearn your features.
The more you care for your skin, the more you’ll feel confident showing it off naturally.
By adapting your beauty routine for autumn, you’ll not only protect and nourish your skin but also give yourself the freedom to experiment with textures and colours that bring out your unique beauty. Remember that it’s about celebrating who you are, not masking it!
