RUBY REVEALS | HOW TO LOOK MORE AWAKE
Stay hydrated
Hydration is essential for healthy-looking skin, make sure to drink enough water each day & get enough enough sleep. Lack of sleep can lead to dark circles, and tired looking skin. Allow your skin time to repair and regenerate.
Skincare
Start with hydrating skincare to refresh your face as much as possible. Use a gentle cleanser followed by a toner, and then a rich, hydrating moisturiser. It's also important to exfoliate regularly (but not excessively) to remove any dead skin cells and aid the absorption of moisture. Look for eye creams containing caffeine, or Niacinamide - as these are great for waking up tired eyes.
Eyedrops / patches
When I’m working on a shoot, the first product I use on anyone is eyedrops. A couple of drops can almost instantly brighten and refresh your eyes. If your eyes are particularly heavy or tired, use a cooling gel patch before gently massaging the area to reduce puffiness.
Colour Correction for dark circles
Depending on how dark your circles are, you may want to start with a colour corrector before applying the rest of your makeup. For dark circles, I'd suggest an apricot or peachy shade to neutralise the colour. Apply sparingly to the areas you feel need it, and use your fingers or a small brush to blend in. Using a colour corrector not only neutralises, it takes the edge off the darkness brightening up the eye area.
Brighten your eyes
Using a nude eyeliner on your lower waterline can give the effect of larger, more awake eyes. If applying eyeshadow, use a brighter shade on the inner corners of the eye to give an extra pop.
Flush of blush
A quick flush of colour across the cheeks is a great hack for brightening your complexion & making the face look more awake, even if we might not feel it! The Cheek Colour in red is our most natural shade, perfectly imitating natural blood flow to the face.
Brush up your brows
Brushing up your brows is one of the quickest things you can do to instantly open up your face. Fill in any sparse areas and brush up with a spoolie. Groomed brows not only frame your face, but they instantly make your look more polished and awake. I never leave the house without doing this!
Distract attention
A bold lip choice can draw attention away from tired eyes and add a pop of colour to your face. Choose a vibrant shade that compliments your skin tone. It’s always a good idea to draw attention to the areas of your face you like the most, rather than the ones you’re not as keen on.
