PRIDE MONTH - PROUD TO BE AN ALLY
I have always been a huge advocate for celebrating the uniqueness of YOU, and that is what Pride month is all about... embracing ourselves and each other for who we are.
If you are looking for a way to show your support during pride month (and any other month of the year), look out for LGBTQ+ owned brands, and brands actively supporting the community.
A few fo my favourite beauty brands supporting Pride this year are:
- MAC | Since launching the VIva Glam campaign in 1994, MAC has raised over £400 million in the fight against AIDS / HIV, it now also provides grants to over 1,800 innovative programs around the globe supporting marginalised populations.
- Malin+Goetz | Founded by the couple Matthew Malin and Andrew Goetz in 2004, it quickly became one of NYCs favourite personal care brands. I love the deodorants and body washes.
- JVN Hair | LGBTQ+ owned beauty brand, owned by Jonathan van Ness, have collaborated with GLSEN to create a 'You Belong' Pride Hair Set, with 10% of profits donated to GLSEN.
- Olay | Olay have released a limited edition ‘Love is Love’ version of their Regenerist Micro Sculpting Cream, donating $75,000 to Can’t Cancel Pride, via the Trevor Project.
- Barry M | Barry M have released a ‘Full of Pride’ nail gift set, with 20% of profits going to AKT.
- Lottie London | Working with Kaleidoscope Trust, Lottie London have released a whole pride collection, with 10% of all sales going back to the charity.
- Garnier | Garnier have collaborated with LQBTQ+ charity Just Like Us on a Pride Edition of their Micellar Cleansing Water, with up to £50,000 of profits going towards the charity.
There is no better time to be adventurous with your looks, be playful with colour, and try something new.. so why not do this by showing your support and shopping with brands that are making a positive contribution?
